Antarctic Krill Conservation Project - submit your photo to 'be part of the big picture'

Do you remember Mumble, the singing-challenged penguin in "Happy Feet"? Well, now you can contribute in a fun way to international conservation efforts which will help Mumble and his ultimate food source, Antarctic krill, Euphausia superba. Antarctic krill are shrimp-like crustacean that form the base of the food web in the Antarctic for fish, whales and penguins.

All you have to do is send a photo of yourself which will be used to form an international photo mosaic of a penguin. This mosaic will be delivered to Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources (CCAMLR) who will meet this month to decide on how to manage the krill fishery.

So go ahead, be part of the big picture!

Thanks to my friend, Mark Gibson from Pew Environment Group for the heads up!

I've read that although people harvest only a small percentage of the whole krill population, it could have been affecting its breeding patterns. what's worse is that the water temperature is already affecting krill as it is.
